City Slickers

Tenpin Bowling Night

On 7 April 2011 City Slickers held its third event of the 2010/2011 season.

Last time it was a battle of wit at the Annual Quiz but this time it was a battle of the bowling balls at Hollywood Bowl, Meridian.

The evening consisted of teams enjoying two games of bowling and competing for top prizes. Also on offer was a special prize for the bowler who achieved the highest individual score on the night. However, as always, everyone was aware that for one (unlucky) team it was not going to be all about “skittles and strikes” because the lowest scorers would go home “guttered” having been awarded the wooden spoon!

Scores after the first game were divided with some storming ahead with strike after strike while others were steadily getting in the swing of things. All guests then had the opportunity to network with fellow professionals and discuss tactics with each other over some tasty grub and drinks.

As the second game began, the competition started heating up. Most teams raised their performance and overall scores were very close indeed!

The team winners on the night were Geoff Pitts, Andy Turner, Lisa Austin, Kishen Ravalia and Dean Chauhan, who each picked up a £20 Highcross voucher. Well done!

Next up was the prize for the highest overall individual score and this year it was a close call. Edging ahead, and claiming his second prize of the evening, congratulations must go to Geoff Pitts on his success.

(It’s probably best not the mention the wooden spoon winners – you know who you are!)

The Committee would like to thank everyone who made the effort to attend this event. We hope to see many more of you attending our biggest and most popular event of the season, the Ale Trail, which will take place at the beginning of July 2011.
