HR Retainer Service

The idea behind the HR Retainer Service is that we are engaged on a full-time basis by businesses to deal with employment law and HR issues as and when they arise.  This means we are on hand to help with everything, from advertising and recruitment right the way through to dismissals and post-termination disputes.  We can deal with:

  • drafting new / improving existing employment contracts and company handbooks
  • grievances and disciplinary issues in the workplace
  • absence and performance issues
  • reorganisations and restructures; and
  • transfers of business

We also have a wealth of experience defending tribunal claims from ex-employees – for example; claims of unfair dismissal, and discrimination.

Our philosophy is that prevention is better than cure.  The benefit of having lawyers available “on call” is that we work with the client to manage risks (and problematic employees) much more effectively when we are involved from the outset. 

There is no guarantee that a disgruntled employee will not threaten to take legal action. However, we find that we can often stop this threat from becoming a reality or, in the event of a claim, that we are much better placed to successfully defend the client because of our early involvement.

We can also help you with the day-to-day running of your business by both improving your employment contracts, policies and procedures and by helping you manage your workforce effectively.

We believe the HR Retainer Service is a unique approach to the provision of employment law support.  Our clients have told us that they prefer paying for our advice and support on a monthly basis, as opposed to a “pay as you go” arrangement – which can be much more expensive (and arguably less effective).

We do not seek to tie clients into long-term contracts – we are confident that clients will receive value for money and will want to remain on the Retainer.

We can arrange insurance as part of our HR Retainer Service, or separately if required.  We recognise that having insurance cover against the risk of a tribunal claim provides many employers with peace of mind.
